The bank processes trillions of transactions daily and operates within a highly regulated RBI compliance framework, requiring a seamless domain migration strategy.
OVERVIEW
The Reserve Bank of India mandated Indian banks to transition from .com domains to sovereign .in domains. The goal for the mandate was to ensure trust and data sovereignty.
The migration timeline overlapped with the client’s pre-Diwali code freeze, a period where system changes are typically restricted due to peak festive transaction volumes. Any disruption during this period could have directly impacted festive transaction volumes, customer trust, and regulatory compliance, making zero downtime a non-negotiable requirement.

BUSINESS
REQUIREMENT
The main requirement was to transition the primary digital architecture from the .com TLD (Top-Level Domain) to the sovereign .in TLD in strict accordance with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mandate.
The primary goals are to enhance data sovereignty, bolster national cybersecurity infrastructure, and fortify customer trust.

SOLUTION
We designed a Zero-Downtime Migration Framework executed through controlled off-peak deployment windows. The framework balanced regulatory urgency, enterprise security controls, and business continuity during one of the highest transaction periods of the year.
Deployment was executed during 2:00 AM – 5:00 AM maintenance windows, supported by a 24/7 war-room monitoring setup.

The architectural audit evaluates more than 100 partner integrations to ensure system integrity and performance. This process segments high-risk domains, specifically targeting Loan and Expressway transaction flows, to mitigate operational threats. The audit identifies critical dependencies across Search Engine Optimization (SEO) configurations, Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) policies, and firewall rules to prevent service disruptions and unauthorized access

Security & Infrastructure Reconfiguration
Reprovisioned SSL certificates and updated WAF rules, ingress whitelisting, and multi-layer firewall configurations to securely recognize and route traffic to the new domain.

Zero-Downtime DNS Switch
The team executed the domain switch during controlled off-peak windows. This process utilized real-time monitoring and maintained constant rollback readiness to prevent service interruptions.

SEO & Traffic Preservation
The implementation of 301 redirects preserved search rankings throughout the transition. This method ensured all user bookmarks transitioned seamlessly without loss of traffic or page authority.

Compliance & Stabilization
The team validated RBI compliance and security posture across all partner ecosystems. This process ensured transaction stability within the integrated network and verified adherence to regulatory mandates.
