Lush Wellness is a Swedish-founded brand redefining the at-home hair removal experience. Since its inception in 2016, the company has championed a remote-first culture, bringing together a diverse and talented team across 13 countries and more than 15 time zones.
This global footprint empowers Lush Wellness to stay deeply attuned to the needs of a broad, inclusive audience. The brand's mission is simple yet powerful: to make hair removal effortless, accessible, and welcoming for everyone—everywhere.
Overview
GeekyAnts partnered with Lush Wellness to build WaxBuddy, a mobile-first digital solution designed to elevate the at-home waxing experience through intuitive guidance and routine management.
The project delivered a dual-platform system—a user-friendly mobile app for end customers and a powerful admin dashboard for internal teams to manage content and insights.

BUSINESS REQUIREMENT
The client, Lush Wellness, aimed to modernize their mobile application to deepen user engagement and streamline post-purchase onboarding for at-home waxing customers. They also requested the development of a dedicated admin application to efficiently manage tutorial content, user data, and engagement analytics.
The goal was to enhance the overall user experience, encourage consistent product usage, and support both online and offline growth strategies through a scalable, digital-first platform.
Key Requirements
- Migrate the existing mobile application from Bubble.io to React Native with Expo to improve scalability, performance, and customization across both Android and iOS platforms.
- Retain all core functionalities of the current app, including video tutorials, blogs and articles, waxing session trackers, personalized schedules and reminders, and feedback and support modules.
- Use the existing Figma UI/UX designs provided by Lush Wellness as the foundation for the new mobile application.
- Replace or rebuild the admin panel either through custom development or by leveraging a cost-effective third-party platform such as Contentful, Firebase, or Strapi.
- Maintain in-app redirection to the existing Lush Wellness e-commerce website (lushwellness.com) to enable seamless product purchases.
OUR SOLUTION
We adopted an Agile engagement model with a fixed-price structure, providing Lush Wellness with predictable delivery timelines and cost control, while ensuring flexibility to incorporate feedback through iterative sprint cycles.
Work was divided into structured 2-week sprints, each including backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives. This ensured regular feedback loops and incremental progress aligned with evolving priorities.

We effectively managed evolving requirements and stakeholder feedback by maintaining a flexible execution approach within defined sprints. Communication gaps were addressed through structured documentation, regular updates, and proactive follow-ups to ensure alignment.
Our team adapted quickly to late-stage feedback and coding standards shared during review cycles, resolving discrepancies efficiently. Despite shifting dynamics, we ensured quality delivery through strong internal coordination, thorough testing, and iterative improvements.

OUR APPROACH
The application was envisioned as a mobile-first solution to bridge the critical gap between product purchase and confident product usage in the at-home waxing market.
While Lush Wellness had secured a stronghold on Amazon as a #1 best-selling waxing kit brand, user feedback consistently indicated a need for more accessible education, personalized guidance, and routine management to enhance their DIY waxing experience.
The milestones were created according to this vision in mind:
- Milestone 1: Build core user flows including Splash, Onboarding, Login/Sign-Up, Home, Profile, Products, Saved Items, and Tress Tribe in the mobile app; set up Admin Panel with Login, Blog CMS, Tutorials CMS, T&C/Privacy Policy CMS, and Profile management.
- Milestone 2: Implement Tutorials, Blogs, Wax & Watch, FAQs, Policies, Notifications, Refer & Earn, and Rewards UI in the mobile app; expand Admin Panel with CMS for Wax & Watch, Products, FAQs, Notifications, and User Management.
- Milestone 3: Integrate Mixpanel and Rewards system in the mobile app, complete UAT and bug fixes; finalize User Management in the Admin Panel, complete UAT, bug fixes, and CI/CD pipeline setup.
- Milestone 4: Set up and configure mobile deployment for App Store and Play Store; complete final CI/CD configurations (no new admin panel features in this milestone).

Testing & QA Process
A robust manual QA process was established:
Test scenario and case creation per feature based on design specs and exploratory analysis.
Smoke Testing performed on every new build to validate core functionality.
If the build failed, it was rejected and sent back to development.
If passed, it proceeded to full functional testing.
In-depth functional testing, bug tracking, and exploratory testing were performed to cover edge cases.
Regression testing ensured system stability.
Test cycles were repeated until all critical issues were resolved.
Test reports were generated and shared at the end of each cycle.

RESULTS
Lush Wellness has established a strong presence across both digital and retail channels through a customer-centric and content-driven strategy. The launch of the WaxBuddy app has enhanced the at-home waxing experience, driving early user adoption and increasing product engagement.
The brand continues to build trust and satisfaction with its core offerings, reflected in consistently positive customer feedback. Through platforms like YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, Lush Wellness has cultivated a highly engaged community, effectively educating and inspiring users while reinforcing brand loyalty and lifestyle alignment.
