About the Client
Overview
The Reserve Bank of India mandated Indian banks to transition from .com domains to sovereign .in domains. The goal for the mandate was to ensure trust and data sovereignty.
The migration timeline overlapped with the client’s pre-Diwali code freeze, a period where system changes are typically restricted due to peak festive transaction volumes. Any disruption during this period could have directly impacted festive transaction volumes, customer trust, and regulatory compliance, making zero downtime a non-negotiable requirement.

BUSINESS REQUIREMENT
The main requirement was to transition the primary digital architecture from the .com TLD (Top-Level Domain) to the sovereign .in TLD in strict accordance with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mandate.
The primary goals are to enhance data sovereignty, bolster national cybersecurity infrastructure, and fortify customer trust.
Key Requirements
1. Migrate from .com to .in as per the RBI mandate
2. Ensure zero downtime during the peak festive season
3. Maintain SEO ranking and user bookmarks
4. Update 100+ partner integrations
5. Secure infrastructure, firewall, SSL updates
6. Execute within code freeze constraints
OUR SOLUTION
We designed a Zero-Downtime Migration Framework executed through controlled off-peak deployment windows. The framework balanced regulatory urgency, enterprise security controls, and business continuity during one of the highest transaction periods of the year.
Deployment was executed during 2:00 AM – 5:00 AM maintenance windows, supported by a 24/7 war-room monitoring setup.

CHALLENGES IN EXECUTION & SOLUTIONS
Requirement Gathering
Frequent change requests (CRs)
Cross-team coordination within short sprints
Scope variations during execution
OUR APPROACH
Our approach centered on a Zero-Downtime Migration Framework that decoupled the domain transition from core application updates to bypass festive code freeze restrictions. We conducted a comprehensive architecture and partner audit to identify and pre-configure security dependencies for over 100 external integrations, including WAF rules and SSL certificates.
The actual deployment was executed during off-peak maintenance windows, supported by a 24/7 war room for real-time monitoring and immediate rollback readiness.

RESULTS
The project concluded with zero business loss, proving that even high-stakes sovereign transitions can be executed flawlessly—provided they are backed by rigorous planning and an unwavering focus on infrastructure resilience.
This migration stands as a benchmark for Zero-Disruption Infrastructure Management. By decoupling the domain transition from core application changes, the bank protected its most critical revenue window while reinforcing its commitment to national data security.
