GeekyAnts has introduced an AI Readiness Calculator for organizations planning to build, deploy, or scale AI initiatives. The assessment examines whether the business, data, governance, workforce, and operating foundations required for an AI initiative are in place.
The tool assesses organizations across 10 readiness dimensions and places them in one of four stages based on their responses and supporting evidence. It also includes a compliance assessment that identifies regulations based on product and organizational inputs and maps the resulting requirements to engineering work.
What Does the AI Readiness Calculator Assess?
The AI Readiness Calculator uses 24 questions to examine whether an organization has the foundations required to move forward with an AI initiative.
The assessment covers:
- Business problem and outcome
- Ownership and decision rights
- Current workflow and AI suitability
- Baseline and value measurement
- Data and knowledge readiness
- Human oversight, governance, and risk
- Prototype success and production readiness
- Workforce and change readiness
- Production operating model
- Scale readiness
Participants receive an initial verdict after 10 questions. The complete assessment takes five to seven minutes, with the full readiness report available as a PDF by email.
Each "Yes" response requires evidence. Stakeholder confidence alone does not satisfy the requirement.
Once the assessment is complete, the organization is placed in one of four stages: Not Ready to Build, Ready to Prototype, Ready to Productionise, or Potentially Ready to Scale.
The model also includes three mandatory gates between the stages. An organization cannot move to a later stage based on its total score when a mandatory requirement remains open.
How the Compliance Assessment Adds Product Context
AI readiness is one part of the assessment. The tool also examines regulatory requirements that may affect the product being planned or assessed.
The compliance assessment collects information across five areas: identification, organization profile, product capabilities, data sensitivity, and deployment.
Organizations can select industries including fintech, healthcare, and manufacturing, along with the regions where the product will operate. The tool also considers factors such as organization size, data volumes, product type, payment processing, AI-supported decisions about people, third-party data access, cross-border data movement, and the types of data involved.
Deployment choices cover multi-tenant cloud, dedicated cloud, on-premises, and hybrid or edge environments. The assessment also considers whether regulated data crosses borders or is handled by downstream vendors.
These inputs are used to identify the regulatory requirements associated with the selected product and operating context.
From Compliance Requirements to Engineering Work
The compliance results show the number of applicable regulations and identify critical, mandatory, and watch-list requirements.
Each requirement is connected to its source regulation and assigned a priority. The output also accounts for whether the organization is planning a new product or assessing an existing system.
For new builds, the requirements appear as implementation items. For existing systems, the tool compares each requirement with the controls already in place to identify gaps.
Requirements are organized by engineering layer, including frontend, backend, authentication, integration and DevOps, database, network and communication, and storage.
The tool also identifies control themes that appear across more than one applicable regulation. These include areas such as encryption, access control, audit logging, retention and purge processes, network segmentation, consent management, and continuous control monitoring.
A watch list separates rules that may affect the organization in the future from requirements that apply to the current assessment.
Bringing Readiness and Compliance Into AI Planning
The AI Readiness Calculator brings two questions into the same assessment: whether an organization has the foundations to move forward with AI and which regulatory requirements apply to the product it plans to build or operate.
The readiness assessment identifies open areas across business ownership, data, governance, production operations, workforce readiness, and scale. The compliance assessment translates product and organizational inputs into requirements that teams can review alongside engineering plans.
Organizations planning an AI initiative can use the GeekyAnts AI Readiness Calculator to complete the assessment and review their readiness stage and applicable requirements.
